Slack and Salesforce Integrations for Smoother Communications
With over 12 million daily active users, many business teams are already familiar with Slack, recognising it as one of the essential tools that helps them communicate and work more efficiently.
Until now, Slack has had a great relationship with Salesforce, with their first integration transpiring in 2016. And now, since Salesforce’s acquisition of the app in 2021, Slack is on a journey of deepening its integration into Salesforce’s broader portfolio of products.
In September 2022, both Slack and Salesforce announced new features that will further the cause of effective business communications and make it easier for teams to collaborate.
To sum up, Slack’s new integrations allow pulling in actionable data directly from Salesforce Customer 360, including Service Cloud, Sales Cloud, and Marketing Cloud. This means your sales, service, and marketing teams can quickly act on accounts, tickets, and leads, as well as connect with customers directly from Slack.

What’s new in Slack?
The enhanced integrations enable users to connect to their Salesforce CRM from Slack and share results in Slack. Users will have the ability to share messages both ways between Salesforce Chatter and Slack in real time. Developers can build new Slack applications using Apex or low-code tools to scale apps and workflows across both platforms.
Slack Canvas
Slack Canvas (generally available in 2023), is a customisable digital surface where teams can create curated resource pools and automate sharing of business-critical information. On top of having the existing channel-specific features, such as clip previews and team profiles, Canvas can be used in many other use cases, such as embedding workflows and creating a reference hub for team-specific or organisation-wide purposes.
Slack and Sales Cloud
Slack now allows sales teams to search and preview Salesforce Sales Cloud records within the app, including accounts and opportunities. Furthermore, users can send Salesforce records related to an account or case to their team members using Slack.
Slack and Service Cloud
For service agents, new integrations bring opportunities to overview Slack conversations related to a Salesforce record. Similarly to Sales Cloud, the search and preview functionality will be available to explore within the Slack application. Furthermore, with Slack canvas, service agents can access curated information to help them serve customers better. For example, Slack canvas delivers features for managers to create a checklist of items for service agents to complete within a specific time period. They can provide workflows, training information, videos, files, and channels to join.
Slack and Marketing Cloud
The Slack integration with Marketing Cloud allows sales teams to get notified in Slack when leads are generated. Marketing teams can pair a canvas to a Slack Connect project channel to streamline campaign execution and iteration, leveraging the advantage of unified data and real-time alerts.
Final thoughts
Slack connects conversations, automation, and apps in one space. With new integrations to Salesforce, users can enjoy a richer pool of capabilities that elevate their workflows, bringing more ease into everyday tasks.
